Back of the bus
Air of easy afternoons
The expression on your face
Reminds me of my favourite cartoon
I chase the feeling of sitting cross
Legged,
Ten minutes to leave for school
Old bus driver who will try to make me
Laugh,
Filled up seats
Rowdy kids shouting at the back
Racing raindrops on the window
You make me appreciate the simple things in life
The ones that make me want to stay
And try another night.

This felt like opening a small window into a memory I didn't know I still carried.
I loved how ordinary moments—a school bus, raindrops on a window, the familiar chaos of children—became reminders of why life is still worth holding on to. There's a gentle nostalgia here that doesn't dwell on the past; it helps us notice the beauty that still exists in the present.
I've happily subscribed because I enjoy writers who can find poetry in the seemingly ordinary. Thank you for inviting us to the bus stop. I look forward to the journey.
Loved this, Bus Stop Girl.
Took me straight back to buses exactly like this through parts of my life, and especially as a child.
